Sleeping Beauty (Pt. 3)

Nothing. That’s what. For the next five years, I suffered. I did nothing because no one was listening, and any advice I did get wasn’t helpful. So instead of getting upset and crying or getting even, I got assertive. I went to a new doctor, and the first thing I said was, “I have a background in nutrition. I’ve done all the tests, seen all the professionals; I need a doctor who will listen to me and my symptoms and be a partner in my health; not dismiss me or tell me I’m fat or lazy”.

I call this Milo’s “Constipated Republican” impression.

It worked! One of the first questions she asked me was, “how is your sleep?’. Umm, “I don’t” was my response. I’m tired all the time. My thyroid comes back normal, and I’m still tired. She ordered me a sleep test. I’ve had a sleep test before, and it came back normal, so I wasn’t expecting much. I’ll write about my adventures with the sleep test in another post, but when the results came back, I had severe sleep apnea with 35 events in one hour. which meant I stopped breathing 35 times in an HOUR. No wonder I was so damn tired! I kept getting woken up because I stopped breathing!
